SUMMARY OF ANIMAL SCIENCES 300

Dairy Management, Animal Sciences 300, is a capstone class targeting junior, senior, and graduate students.  Most students will have completed Animal Sciences 201, Principles of Dairy Science (not a requirement).  Course prepares students for roles in animal agriculture including dairy production, veterinary science, agribusiness, sales, communications, and education fields.   A variety of classroom topics, field labs, and tours will challenge and stimulate students.

· Tours to modern IL dairy farms and World Dairy Expo provide real world experiences
·   Labs provide hands on training and application of basic and applied class room material
· Exposure to dairy instructors providing future contacts and expertise
· Class room lectures provide the latest information in an applied environment
· Use of CD ROM will bring 15 different instructors from universities and agribusiness
·  Oral reports, oral and written exams, and papers develop communication skills

The use of electronic technology will prepare students for future applications and learning experiences.   Several new teaching experiences will be used in Dairy Management and will be evaluated by students and staff.   With a blend of new and traditional learning techniques, Animal Sciences 300 should be an enjoyable and satisfying class under "continuous construction".  Welcome to our class, be ready to try new ideas, be introduced to new science, and be able to apply your knowledge.
